How To Use A Jade Roller
Today we are talking jade rollers. You’ve heard me rave about my jade roller for years and I’ve even done a few quick Instagram stories and Snapchats on how to use a jade roller but I figured I’d rewrite a more detailed post for you. The best part about TBD is that you can refer back to all my little tips & tricks by using the search bar on my blog.
Jade rolling has been a beauty secret dating back to centuries ago. This may seem like a new beauty trend but jade rolling was originally used in ancient Chinese medicine.
What does a jade roller do?
1. Lymphatic Drainage: Anyone else super puffy in the morning? My eyes are always extremely puffy and swollen in the morning. A jade roller works wonders with draining fluid build up around your eyes. I use the smaller side of the jade roller and gently roll towards my tear duct, this helps to break up the fluid.
You can always use this same technique on your cheeks! The puffiness around my eyes is usually more problematic in the mornings than my cheeks but the jade roller works just as good in those areas too. Side note: if you have horrendous allergies like I do, massaging around your eyes has been known to help with sinus issues.
2. Increases Circulation: Similar to what I stated above with lymphatic drainage- circulation is key. We all know that getting our blood flowing throughout our body is extremely important for a healthy lifestyle. Well, the same goes for our face. When we get the blood circulating throughout our face it helps with aging, stressed skin, and having an overall youthful appearance.
3. Reduces Dark Circles: A lot of the times dark circles are genetic but because the jade stone is naturally cool, this helps shrinks the blood vessels under your eyes which helps with bags & dark circles.
4. Helps Absorb Product into Pores: This is one of the main reasons why I use my jade roller. After I wash my face and start my skincare, whether I’m using an oil or moisturizer, I always use my jade roller after applying the product to my face. The jade roller helps absorb the product into your pores much more than your fingers. I’ve noticed that my skincare routine is a lot more effective with the jade roller.
A Few Tips:
- Stick your jade roller in the fridge, not only is this extremely relaxing but it helps with the puffiness. (pro tip: do this when hungover it’s life changing)
- Always roll pointing towards your forehead (upwards motions)
- Clean your roller before each use! You don’t want to spread bacteria throughout your face.
- Use the smaller side of the jade roller for under the eye + around the nose
There you have it. Super easy, right?
I always tell my S&F babes that shop my jade rollers, this isn’t just another product that will sit on your vanity. The jade roller is a staple in your beauty routine. Regardless of your age, I highly recommend this product for you.
