I’m a face mask addict. Let’s be real. I probably do a face mask once a week.
They are easy, effective and it feels like I’m on my own personal spa retreat!
Now, finding the right face mask is actually very important. You can’t just slap anything on your face and expect results.
Every skin type has different needs. Whether you have combination skin (like me), acne-prone, oily, dry, aged, or something in between- there is a face mask out there for your skin’s needs.
I feel like face masks are trending. There are SO many different ones on the market to choose from, it can be overwhelming.
Well, I’m here to break it down for ya. I’m going to explain every type of face mask out there and if it’s the right one for you.
Exfoliating Masks
Ah these are my favorite. I have VERY congested skin and I constantly need a good exfoliant. Exfoliating masks remove the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin which in return can speed up the renewal process, allowing healthy skin cells to take their place. This process can turn your skin full dull and dry to bright and smooth! If you have any fine lines or wrinkles, I highly recommend exfoliating. I personally exfoliate once a week because my skin is congested with blackheads.
Charcoal & Clay Masks
Okay, so these masks are VERY popular. If you have acne prone skin, these masks can work wonders for you. Certain ingredients like sulfur and activated charcoal can deep cleanse and detoxify your pores which will draw out any impurities. If you have oily skin, I recommend using a clay or charcoal mask. Also, try looking for masks that have tea tree oil- tea tree oil kills bacteria and can soothe acne prone skin.
Sheet Masks
Sheet masks are 100% disposable, pre-cut masks that are made of fibers or gel. They are infused with serums and collagen-boosting ingredients such as retinol and peptides. If you need to deep cleanse your skin, this type of mask probably isn’t for you. But if you want to get concentrated ingredients deep into your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles, this mask is totally for you! Sheet masks are perfect for brightening and tightening the skin.
Hydrating Masks
I love a good hydrating mask in the colder months. You can find some awesome hydrating sheet masks. Keeping your skin hydrated is crucial in any skincare routine. Hydrating your skin will prevent you from having fine lines, wrinkles, and rough skin. Hydrating your skin will also brighten up your confession. You can also grab a hydrating mask if you are looking to plump your skin.
Caffeine Masks
Your skin needs caffeine to get going just like you! Masks that contain caffeine promote glowing skin, reduce inflammation, and treat dark spots and circles under the eyes. Side note- I love using beauty products on areas of my body that need firming and tightening (my ass). Caffeine is known to tighten areas!
