MEET- Fashion Enthusiast & Total Sweetheart: Kelsey

Alright. So if you know me, you know that i’m a shopaholic. Yup, 100% addicted, obsessed, and in complete LOVE with shopping (and i’m perfectly okay with it). That said, i’m always looking for unique clothes with a good price tag.
Thats when I came across the CUTEST boutique- Kelsey’s Kloset.

Kelsey’s Kloset Boutique is a specialty shop that offers beautiful and unique pieces at a reasonable price. PERFECT, right?!

But wait- not only is the store absolutely fabulous- but the lady behind the magic is just as amazing. I knew she would be a perfect fit on The Brunettes Diary.

P.S Kelsey is sharing some exciting news at the end of her interview!

So lets get talkin’…

Hi Kels, so excited to have you on The Brunettes Diary. So, introduce yourself:

KK: I’m Kelsey (pronounced: KEL-see according to Facebook) I opened my shop back in 2011 when I had just turned 19 years old. I didn’t have any retail background aside from selling products at a hair salon when I was 16. My first job was actually at Ledos Pizza (I was 13 years old). Then I was the youngest server in Cheeburger Cheeburger history at only 14 years old, I did doubles there while I was working on achieving my high school diploma online at JMU. (In case you’re wondering, I was able to do this because they don’t sell alcohol.) Then I started working at Cloud 9 hair salon. During that time, I got a nannying job through one of the stylists clients. So I went back and fourth from hair to babysitting and vise versa for 2 years. When I turned 18 the family I was nannying for told me they were going to move. This was when I decided I needed to figure out what I was going to do. I always knew I wanted to do my own thing, I just wasn’t sure what or how. This is when Kelsey’s Kloset was born. I love clothes, shopping and decorating. So why not combine all 3 and make a business. I wrote a business plan, convinced my parents, leased a space, built out the space and hoped for the best! In the beginning, I bought and resold used clothing. Then I began consignment on higher end pieces and started mixing in new items. For various reasons, I knew that consignment wasn’t going to work for me. So I decided to begin selling all new items. Since then I have been living my dream! Learning the ins and outs & going through the good and the bad has been so powerful for me as a person and as a business owner. I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything.

Give Us The Deets On Your Store:

KK: Kelsey’s Kloset is a Maryland based brick and mortar and online boutique. We sell trend setting, fashion forward, unique & stylish merchandise or in other words; happiness! Locally owned and operated!

A Day In The Life:

KK: I wake up usually after the 2nd alarm if my internal alarm clock hasn’t already gone off. I use my phone to read emails. Double check my planner & of course read my array of sticky notes (which are everywhere). At this next point, every day Is different which I LOVE, sometimes I have meetings, collabs, events, etc. My normal working days consist of getting coffee if I haven’t already & commuting to work with some pump up jams to concur my day. When I arrive at the boutique- I continue those jams on my pandora app & work on online orders, tasks for interns that evening, answer emails, tend to customers, etc. At the end of the day, I usually go home change into my gym clothes & head to the gym. Run my lovely 6 min mile ((on a good day)) & then head home. Finally, I start cleaning my house, finishing work I didn’t finish, follow up on shows (if I have time which is usually never, I tend to be a workaholic: ((there is always something to do)) #helpmeimseasonsbehind, etc.

Cocktail Of Your Choice:

KK: I am not a big drinker at all but when I do I would have to say a Blue Hawaiian Martini. This is a current fav but I do change it up occasionally. (Anything fruity) Here are the ingredients/instructions in case you’re wondering ((I had it saved in my phone from when I wanted to try it but now I know it by heart)):

In a pitcher, combine vodka, blue curacao, and pineapple juice. Place ice cubes in a martini shaker. Add the liqueur mixture; shake. Strain into four chilled martini glasses.

Secret Beauty Tip:

KK: MASCARA! I have super long lashes but they are blonde so they scream “paint me”
in the morning & you will probably never see me without it on! I use Loreal Double Extend Primer & Maybeline Big Eyes Top Coat. I am also slightly obsessed my new neon pink Beauty Blender. I think I’ve only gone 2 Sunday’s w/o using it since I bought it! ❤️

Tips For Success:

KK: I have a million quotes that I could tell you but I’ve learned these are the best of the best:
“Stay true to you.”
“Love what you do, work hard, & be kind”

Favorite go-to Healthy Food:

KK: Broccoli and Edamame (extra salt bc I have low blood pressure & my doc told me to load it up, I’m not complaining.)

Styles Your Loving Lately:

KK: Everything at the store (Kelsey’s Kloset), literally. Vests, Layers, Blanket Scarves, Fringe, Aztec, & so much more!

A Message to Your Fans/ Other Dreamers:

KK: First off don’t be a dreamer be a doer or put those dreams to work. Dreams don’t work unless you do. If you don’t go after what you want you will never have it, if you don’t ask the answer is always no, and if you don’t step forward you’re always in the same place. It’s your destiny, make your own rules!

How awesome is she?!

Thanks to Kels, I’m excited to share some AMAZING news! Kelsey’s Kloset is having some pretty rad deals on Black Friday! I’ll see you there!
