LANDING A PAID BLOG POST

LANDING A PAID BLOG POST

Hi babes! HAPPY FRIDAY.

So, lets just jump right into it.

I’ve had tons & tons & tons of questions in regards to sponsored posts and collabs. Landing a sponsored post can be tricky and very nerve-racking. So TBD is bringing you babes a FREE guide and printable.

Honestly, for the longest time I did collabs & campaigns for brands for free and there is NOTHING wrong with that. As a social media influencer, you need to get your foot in the door and your name out there some how. Start working for brands with zero compensation and then work your way up when you feel like you are ready. There really isn’t a perfect time to start, it’s up to YOU. If you never want to take compensation, then don’t. And if you never want to work for free, you better hustle.

So let me just start by saying this… DO NOT work with brands just because they pay well. Seriously, guys don’t do it. I am so so picky when it comes to collaborations. I want to make sure that the brand I work with fits in perfectly with my own brand and that my audience will LOVE it. Be picky! You’ll thank me later.

Here are a few things you need to make sure you are doing before you start doing paid posts.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL BLOG DESIGN

Your blog is your store front window. The cover to your magazine. First impressions are EVERYTHING. Make sure you have a professional blog design. You do not need to spend a lot of money but it is very important that your blog is appealing. This goes for your Instagram and other social media channels.

TELL A STORY

The brands you are working with want to know YOU. Make sure that your posts tell a story. You’re story is unlike anyone else’s! Not only does your audience want you to be authentic but brands do too.

QUALITY

Spelling, images, easy site navigation and a billion other things are what brands look at. Hire an editor for your blog or ask your friends/family to review posts. Having a second or third opinion on something is always a good idea.

CONTACT

OMG. Do you know how many sites I’ve gone to and finding a contact is literally impossible. Eventually you just give up and click out, right? Brands need to be able to find your contact information within seconds. Make it super easy for them. I have my contact info displayed all over my blog.

REGISTERED DOMAIN

Okay, this one is tricky. I personally think that if you are looking to take blogging seriously- you need to treat it like a business. And with ANY business there is always some sort of investment. Start with registering your domain name and having a reliable Host. Not only does it look x 387654 more profesh but MOST brands and paid Ads cannot work with you without you owning your site.

Now, lets talk about your rate sheet…

If you want to make money from your blog by selling ad space to advertisers, then you need to create a rate sheet that tells advertisers how much ad space costs on your blog and why it’s worth it for them to invest their money on your blog.

Grab your paper & pen. Here’s what you need.

BLOG DESCRIPTION

Tell potential advertisers about your blog and why it’s different. Why is your blog the right place for them to advertise. Or better yet, WHY they should work with you.

DESCRIBE YOUR AUDIENCE

Advertisers and brands want to know who is reading your blog. They need to make sure that your audience matches their target audience.

BLOG STATS

Advertisers want to know how much traffic your blog is getting each month to ensure that their ads will get exposure.

AWARDS

If your blog has been given an award or any other type of blog recognition- include it! Always include things that give your blog credibility.

PRICES

Your rate sheet should clearly state prices for each individual ad space for sale on your blog.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Explain the methods that advertisers can use to pay when payment is due.

CONTACT INFO

Don’t forget to add your contact info so advertisers can follow up with you. I include my social media channels too.

ADDITIONAL PRICES

I have my prices listed for social media promos (Instagram Posts, Tweets & Snaps) & blog posts on my rate sheet too.

Oh and one last thing..

The most important thing you can show a brand is CONFIDENCE. OWN IT. Seriously. Be PROUD of your brand. You have worked so hard!

Have a fun + safe weekend!

xx
