5 Tips to a Perfect Instagram Feed

1. NATURAL LIGHT

This is KEY to a perfect photo on Instagram.

Natural lighting can make or break the look of your Instagram feed. If you are looking to have a bright and white Instagram feed, natural lighting is even more important!

I take ALL of my photos in front of a big window. The lighting is the best late afternoon.

2. TAKE A SHIT TON OF PICTURES

Okay, this one might sound stupid but I promise there’s something to it.

I want you to take a shit ton of pictures in two different ways.

First, take a lot of photos ALL the time. Document everything! The most random photo at the most random place could be the Instagram photo that gets reposted which means x 1000 more exposure for you. This will also allow for your feed to be more diversified.

Next, take A LOT of the photos that you know you’re probably going to post. Here’s what I mean…

Let’s say you are on 5th Avenue and want to get that perfect shot before leaving the city. DON’T JUST TAKE ONE PHOTO. When I want to get a certain shot, I take at least 50 different shots. I’ll do different poses, get different angles and play around. Nothing is worse than getting only “one shot” of the perfect moment and realizing your eyes are closed.

3.  DIVERSIFY CONTENT

This is HUGE. No matter what niche you are in, you want to make sure that you are diversifying content. People don’t want to see a million photos of you posing the EXACT same way. Yawn.

Mix it up a little bit. Let’s say your brand is specifically about pizza. Instead of just posting pizza on a plate over and over and over again. Mix it up! Post pictures of the pizza with beautiful backgrounds or post pictures of you eating pizza from all around the world. THIS is what will make your content special and stand out from the rest on Instagram.

4. USE THE SAME FILTERS

This is very important. Your Instagram is your own digital magazine. If you are looking at a travel magazine, you are going to see the same colors on each page. Think of your Instagram this way too!

You don’t need to use the exact same filter on every single photo. In fact, I have about 3-4 that I use to edit my photos.

Keep your feed consistent! If you are only using whites and pinks, don’t post something bright blue.

5. PLAN YOUR PHOTOS

Planning your photos is honestly life changing. Not only does it save you a shit ton of time but it’ll allow you to organize and see your feed prior to posting. I use POSTVU (talked about it right here) to organize my Instagram.

I can layout all of my photos in the POSTVU app and move them around to design the look of my Instagram.
