3 Wellness Trends to Look Out For in 2017

Hi TBD babes!

Happy New Year! How was everyone’s holiday?

I spent the holiday completely relaxing and spending quality time with my family and friends.

BUT I ate like shit.

No joke, I ate like the world was coming to an end.

So, now that it is 2017 I’m ready to get my butt back into shape. I know, I know cliché AF.

Anyways, I’ve come up with a list of the BEST wellness trends in 2017.

Hop on this shiz ASAP.

  1. Meditation

I started getting into yoga and meditation last year (feels so weird saying last year). Yoga is seriously the BEST for anxiety and also for toning your body. But, my favorite part of the entire yoga experience was the meditation aspect of it. It seriously made a huge impact on my day, mood, body and overall well-being.

Meditation is going to be totally on trend this year. You can’t be healthy without a healthy mind.

Okay, so there’s this app called ‘Headspace’. LIFE-CHANGING.

I would highly recommend downloading ASAP.

Basically for 10 minutes a day, you stop what you are doing and meditate. You can also set up reminders to notify you when it’s time to meditate. Amazing, right?

Sometimes you just need to stop what you are doing and breathe.

2. Turmeric x Collagen

So, you’ve probably seen recently on snapchat my obsession with Collagen.

According to Dr. Axe,

As we age, collagen production declines — it’s happening as you read this! You’ll notice it physically: looser skin, more wrinkles and less elasticity. Increasing collagen levels can help your skin look firmer, increase smoothness, and help your skin cells keep renewing and repairing normally.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies investigating the anti-aging properties of collagen have found that 2.5–5 grams of collagen hydrolysate used among women aged 35–55 once daily for eight weeks significantly improved skin elasticity, skin moisture, transepidermal water loss (dryness) and skin roughness, all with little to no side effects.

Collagen also reduces cellulite and stretch marks. When skin loses its elasticity as a result of decreased collagen, there’s another side effect: more visible cellulite. Because your skin is now thinner, cellulite becomes more evident — no more hiding what’s happening below the surface. Improving your skin’s elasticity through collagen helps reduce that dimpling on your skin.

BUT wait, it gets better ladies.

  • A boost in collagen may help increase your metabolism by adding lean muscle mass to your frame and helping with the conversion of essential nutrients
  • Ever had peeling and splitting nails? Well, a lack of collagen could be to blame. Collagen protein is the building block of your fingernails, hair and teeth. Adding collagen into your diet regimen can help keep your nails strong and possibly reverse signs of hair loss.

I like to put a little bit of collagen powder into my shakes, juices, and water!

Now do you see why I’m obsessed???

Okay, so moving on to Turmeric.

Ahhhh, you’re gonna LOVE this one.

Turmeric is a natural way of treating several skin problems and the key to getting flawless skin!

An article on PopSugar writes,

“Turmeric is an age-old ingredient used for its internal as well as external health-and-beauty-promoting properties,” explained Sheetal Rawal, a scientist and founder of brand Apsara. “It has been used in the Indian subcontinent for thousands of years for its natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and color-balancing properties. Currently, it is also gaining quite some fame in the West for its significant antioxidant properties.”

This ability to bring down inflammation translates to skin care by minimizing acne or bringing down a rosacea flare-up. You can also rely on it for anti-aging benefits. “It is loaded with key vitamins that facilitate important skin renewal processes, such as the creation of collagen,”

Turmeric is a skin care junkies BFF. I’m going to do a post shortly on my favorite DIY Turmeric Mask. Look out for it!

Okaaaaay and lastly,

     3. Clean Eating

Yaaa, you guessed it. Clean eating is number ONE on the list when it comes to getting your body the way you want it.

The juice bar is like my second home. I love stopping by there and loading up on Acai, Kombucha and wellness shots. Clean eating is going to continue trending through 2017.

But, instead of seeing the occasional juice cleanse, you’ll start to see clean eating year round!

What’s your favorite “clean” snack?
